What is HTML

HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language.

It is the standard markup language for creating Web pages.

Basic HTML Tags

<html> tag denotes the beginning of HTML section
</html> Denotes the end of HTML section.

At beginning the tag is called opening tag and the ending one is called closing tag.”

<head> – contains information about document e.g. title, meta data, styling, etc.
<body> – contains main body/content of the page.
<div> is here for section or division of website.
<h1> – main header for web-page. Makes nice and big-bold inside content.

<p> is for paragraph.
<title> – makes “WebsiteName” appear as the title in tab or browser window.
<charset> – standard character set.
<content type> type of content which we have in page.
<viewport> – width of the page.
<style> section contains the styling by css.
body {} contains all the information for content body section e.g. background colour, margin, padding, fonts which might be used etc.
div{} contains all the styling for <div> section e.g. width, margin, padding, border radius etc.

@media (max-width: 700px) – Specifies the screen width for mobile devices

Empty HMTL elements

HTML elements with no content are called empty elements.
<br> is an empty element without a closing tag (the <br> tag defines a line break). Empty elements can be “closed” in the opening tag like this: <br />.

A simple HTML document:

<p>The content of the body element is displayed in the browser window.</p>
<p>The content of the title element is displayed in the browser tab, in favorites and in search engine results.</p>
